Hendrick’s remains a firm favourite, but Gin Mare in particular is appearing more and more often. We are also seeing a wider variety of gins in each order. Meanwhile, the strong growth tequila has enjoyed in recent years appears to be levelling off.

We do not have an exact explanation. We can only see what is being ordered. A few colleagues in the industry have recognised the same development.

This is not market research, but simply what we are seeing in our order book this season.

Provisioning a yacht for a season is an exercise in balance. The cellar needs enough breadth for changing menus and guest preferences, but every bottle also occupies valuable space and must travel safely.

We begin with the route, charter calendar and style of service on board. From there, we build a core selection, add bottles for known guest requests and identify ports where the cellar can be replenished without interrupting the programme.

The best result is not simply an impressive list. It is a cellar that works quietly: the right bottle is ready for the right table, wherever the yacht happens to be.

A birth-year bottle turns time into something tangible. It can mark a milestone, celebrate a family history or become a gift that carries meaning long after the occasion itself.

Not every celebrated year produced the same quality in every region. We therefore look beyond the date, comparing producers, formats and drinking windows to find a bottle that is both significant and genuinely enjoyable.

Sometimes the answer is a classic vintage wine. Sometimes it is a whisky distilled in the right year and bottled decades later. The search is complete when the story and the liquid feel equally special.
